ABOUT
April, 2015, I came to NY to study English and look at fashion and art for one year. It was the first time to live overseas. I'm feeling energized by the people and the city every day.
There are so many various galleries in this city. We can look at various art pieces anytime. One day, I went to a gallery, then I suddenly felt that a lot of galleries display art pieces in the same way. I thought it was boring. If I held an art exhibition, I could absolutely make it a more interesting and fascinating place. Then I decided to hold art and fashion exhibition in this city. If someone asks me, why do you hold the exhibition, I'm going to say, I just want to do interesting things. That's it. As a child, I was astonished and fascinated by those every time when I went to a toy shop and an amusement park with my parents. It was like encountering the unknown world.
I think everybody has curiosity. Pleasure to encounter new things and new worlds that we can't express well with language. So, I want to make the place where can feel those emotions.
I am 21 years old. I am a young man. Someone said why you do that, someone also said you can't do that. I can't understand the mind of adult people yet.
I realize that some people just think about risk, though. I know that these are roles which we can't see with our eyes in society. But, I have to become the person who breaks that role. I don't know about roles and risk. Everybody doesn't know the result before doing it. Everybody can't do like that. I don't know the result before holding the exhibition.
I think I can't change the world, but I might be able to change society. I believe it. So I do that absolutely.
EXHIBITION
「YOUTH」
Youth is like a symbol that expresses freedom for me.
Young people pursue the things that they seek freely all the time. They feel enthusiam that never goes away for anyone and no one can dictate anything to them. Many people have cooperation, but young people don’t have cooperation. When I saw them that they enjoy their life all the time, I felt that they have the most hopeful time in their whole lives. When we focus on their daily life, it means we encounter a new world that we never knew.
NYには数え切れない程のギャラリーがあり、様々なクリエイター達のアートピースが展示されています。何度か通う内にふと感じたのは多くのギャラリーは無機質な空間にただアートピースを展示してあるだけでした。それは決して間違っている訳ではありませんが、もっと作品の良さを引き出す見せ方は必ず存在すると思いました。僕はただ単純に「面白くない」と感じてしまいました。僕ならもっと見る人が作品に対して興味を持ち、なおかつ、その空間を楽しむ事が出来る、そんなものを作る事が出来ると感じました。
このプロジェクトを何故行うのか？そう問われたら、それはただ面白い事がしたいから。子供の頃に両親に連れて行かれたトイショップ、テーマパーク、全てが新鮮で自分の知らない世界に触れる、そんな感覚を覚えました。人間誰しも、好奇心を持っていて、新しい物に触れる喜びは言葉では言い合わらせないほどのものだと思います。僕自身その感覚が大好きだから、自らの手でそれを感じる事ができる場所を作り上げたい。
ある人は意味を問い、ある人は無理だといいます。21歳の僕に大人の考えている事はまだまだ分かりません。ただ僕が今の時代から感じるのはリスクばかりを気にして、行動範囲を狭めているという事。確かに社会には目には見えないルールがあります。だけれど、僕はそのルールを壊す側の人間にならなければならない。ルールもリスクそんなもの知りません。やって見なきゃ分からない事をやる前に提示しろと言われても出来ません。そんな事誰にも出来ません。
僕たちには世界を変える事は出来ないけれど、社会を変える事は出来るかもしれません。いつかその日が来る事を信じて、僕はやります。
EXHIBITION
「YOUTH」
僕にとってのYOUTHとは自由を象徴するシンボルのような存在です。彼らはどんな時も気の向くままに自分達が求めるものを追求しています。誰の指図も受けない、どこの誰にも負けないという意気込みが感じられます。大人になるにつれて身に付いて行く協調と言う言葉は彼らの中には存在しないのかもしれません。人生の中で若者と呼ばれる期間はとても短いけれど、最も希望に満ちあふれた時間だと、毎日を全力で楽しんでいる彼らを見て、僕はそう感じました。
彼らの日常にスポットを当てるという事、それはまだ僕たちの知らない世界に出会える、そんな可能性を秘めていると感じます。
